About once a year I ask that if you produced a Ph.D. dissertation (or a
similar achievement) related to multigrid or multilevel methods, please send
the title, author, institution, and abstract to me for putting into the
digests. I also encourage advisers to send in the information if the former
student cannot.
Besides being good publicity for recent graduates, certain grant agencies like
seeing this information publicized in digests like this one, so it helps the
field in general.

This is a corrected reprint of the splendid book that Pieter published with
John Wiley & Sons in 1992. After it went out of print a downloadable version
was available here. As of July 2004 it can no longer be downloaded. The

The Department of Mathematics and Scientific Computing at the University of
Graz, Austria announces a Post-Doc position in Scientific Computing . The
position is at first limited to a four year appointment through the University
of Graz.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. or similar qualifications in Applied
Mathematics, Computer Sciences or related fields. Required qualifications are
experiences in Computational Mathematics, Scientific Computing and programming
skills in C++.
The candidate should also have experiences in parallel programming and she/he
should be willing to cooperate with scientist from natural sciences and
medical technology in the new research field "Computational Sciences".
The research field will be focused on fast parallel solvers for partial
differential equations.
The salary is 38.357 EUR (approx. 24.700 EUR after taxes, health insurance
...) per year without teaching duties and 45.975 EUR (approx. 28.470 EUR
after taxes, health insurance ...) with teaching duties of 4 hours per week
during the term. In addition there is a travel budget of 1500 EUR per year.
The university doesn't pay relocation allowance.

Indo-German conference on PDE, Scientific Computing and Applications,
Trier, Sept. 8-10, 2004
Scope:
Scientific Computing in the context of partial differential equations,
optimization and specific applications is a very active field of research,
both in Germany and in India - and, of course, also in other parts
of the world. This conference focusses on a bilateral exchange of
knowledge thus posssibly initiating future joint research activities.
Particular application areas are aerodynamics and environmental
engineering, where a high level of expertise will be present
at the conference. As can be seen from the list of invited speakers,
contributions from other countries and also from other fields
of Scientific Computing are highly welcome as well in this open conference.
The deadline for abstract submission is June 30, 2004.
